Memoir Workshop – Attending to Memory
This class is about telling true stories, ostensibly what memoir is, where truth is acknowledged as an individual’s construct, first embraces the energy of recollection. The more you remember, the more you remember. And the more you remember, the more the architecture and structure needed to share these stories with others becomes evident.
Throughout the four weekends and intervening weeks, we will also explore the use of language, the art of storytelling, various forms as containers of stories, and the employment of specific tropes from fiction and poetry writing to express an intimately familiar story and gaze on it in new light.
Expect to learn something about yourself and others in this process. There are always lessons to be learned when one wrestles a piece of life to the page.
