A 4-hour generative session employing mostly single-word, concrete prompts. Three 20-minutes freewrites, break, share one freewrite of your choice (if you choose), three 15-minute freewrites, three additional word prompts for the road. A 7-session extended novel lab where one can explore creation of character, setting, action, gesture, dialogue, use of language, and more, with the purpose of building a long story. Whether you begin with a story, a character, or a situation, we will work with various tools to take that initial idea or manuscript to new levels. The course is made up of one 5-hour session each month (9:30 AM-2:30 PM Eastern Time) for seven months, October 2024-May 2025 (skipping December). Each participant may schedule one individual 30-minute consultation without additional charge. Note: Participants are buying a seat in the class and must agree (on the honor system) to register and pay for each of the 7 sessions, whether you attend each session or not. In this way, I can charge per monthly session and not require participants to pay the entire fee up front. Participants are not added once the course begins. Memory is in part a constructed thing. However, this course is designed to help you mine your remembered experiences and write your truth about them as you travel your journey to deeper understanding and possible revelation about your own past.
